Visiting Hours

We understand that one of the most difficult parts of being in the hospital is spending time away from family and loved ones. At Pascack Valley Medical Center we choose not to limit the amount of time that visitors can stay. Our 24/7 visitor policy allows family and friends to remain at the bedside throughout the recovery process.   


     General Information for Maternity Services Visitation:

  1. For the protection of our mothers and newborns, visitors with signs and symptoms of illness should refrain from visiting. These signs and symptoms include but are not limited to: coughing, sneezing, fever, diarrhea, and generalized malaise.
  2. Cold sores should be covered with a mask until the lesion is dry and scabbed.
  3. Anyone exposed to a known communicable disease such as chickenpox or influenza is not permitted to visit.
  4. All parents and visitors will be instructed on how to perform hand hygiene and will perform hand hygiene when entering the patient's room and before handling the newborn.
  5. Visiting hours are patient centered and open 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, if the patient requests.
  6. Children under the age of 12 years are permitted on the mother baby unit, but must be accompanied by an adult other than the patient. Children under the age of 12 years are not permitted in the labor and delivery unit.

     Mother/Baby Visitation

  1. Only 1 visitor over the age of 18 years may stay in the mother's room overnight. The only exception to this is if the father of the baby is under the age of 18 years.
  2. Other children of the patient under the age of 18 years are not permitted to stay overnight at the patient's bedside.
  3. Children under the age of 12 years will be accompanied by an adult other than the patient at all times while visiting.
