HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley Receives First License Since 1984

Patients will be Accepted June 1st

Westwood, NJ – After years of hard work to bring a vital healthcare resource back to the Pascack and Northern Valley regions, HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley has officially received a state license.   Today, the hospital is the recipient of the first license New Jersey has granted to a new hospital since 1984.

HackensackUMC and LHP formed a joint venture in 2009 to reopen the former Pascack Valley Hospital in Westwood, NJ, which was closed in April 2007.  In early 2012, the State of New Jersey approved reopening the hospital under the HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley name.  Since that time, the team has been working diligently to transform the once deserted facility into a state-of-the-art, full-service hospital that is part of the Hackensack University Health Network.

“Today is a great day for HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley and Hackensack University Health Network,” said Robert C. Garrett, president and chief executive officer of the Hackensack University Health Network. “This license was the culmination of years of hard work by dedicated colleagues, elected officials, board members, our joint venture partner LHP, and community members. We are excited to open our doors on June 1 to extend the same world-class healthcare that HackensackUMC is known for to the residents of the Northern Valley and Pascack regions.”

“Our partnership with the Hackensack University Health Network and our commitment to the local community will help us strengthen healthcare and the overall patient experience in the Pascack and Northern Valley regions,” said Richard Freeman, New Jersey market president for LHP Hospital Group. “After years of hard work, we look forward to finally opening our doors to serve the people who have waited for this community resource to return, and to provide them with the superior healthcare that they deserve.”

“The residents of this region have waited years for healthcare to return to the region.  After months of preparation and two visits from state surveyors, we are so proud to announce that today, the wait is officially over and we have received our license, said Chad Melton, CEO of HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley. “The collaborative effort between LHP Hospital Group, the Hackensack University Health Network and all the hard-working staff and construction teams, have brought this facility back to life.  Our commitment to providing the best, high-quality and cost effective healthcare to the people of this community will officially begin on June 1st at 12:01 am and we are eager to open our doors. We look forward to serving the community for years to come.”

HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley will offer all services day one including joint and hip replacement, cardiac care, and maternity and cancer services.  Additionally, the hospital will offer an Emergency Department that will be committed to door to doctor service within 30 minutes or less.

HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley is committed to supporting growth in the local community and restoring jobs that will fuel the local and the state economies.  The facility will be an economic engine for the Pascack and Northern Valley regions with the creation of nearly 500 jobs by the end of 2013.  Over 600 physicians representing all specialties have requested privileges at the newly renovated facility.

The new 128 bed, all private room facility is the only of its kind in Bergen County.  Each room will feature fully renovated patient rooms provided at no extra cost to the patient, including a variety of amenities and specialty features for advanced patient care including 32 inch flat screen televisions, Wi-Fi, cable and phone use at no additional cost, brand new Stryker patient beds with built in call system, bedside documentation, bar-coded pharmacy medication.
