Artwork from Westwood Regional Middle School and Berkley School

Featured in the hospital

Westwood, NJ– On April 25, children from Westwood Regional Middle School and the Berkeley Elementary School in Westwood will enjoy healthy snacks to celebrate their prize winning artwork that will be featured in the halls of the newly renovated HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley.  The full service hospital which is scheduled to open on June 1st will feature 22 pieces of the children’s artwork.

“Our brand new facility is proud to feature artwork from the creative students at both Berkeley Elementary School and Westwood Regional Middle School that participated in this contest, said Chad Melton, CEO of HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley.  “We positioned the artwork in a highly trafficked area of the hospital, across from our Bistro 250, so that all of our visitors and employees can appreciate the hard work that the students put in to their pieces.”

HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley announced the art contest in February and the winning pieces were selected by an art committee comprised of hospital staff, vendors and the interior designer.  The contest, which centered on the theme of health and wellness allowed the students to be creative and health conscious as they were asked to draw pictures of what health and wellness meant to them. The winning pieces were designed by students that ranged from kindergarten through grade seven.

In addition to the artwork submitted by the children, the hospital commissioned 40 pieces of art created by local New Jersey Artists.  Pieces include photography, pastels, Metal, acrylic and oil on canvas, and a large statue that will be displayed in the front of the facility.  A number of pieces were also purchased from the Westwood Gallery.   A complete listing of all the work and the location within the hospital is available through the marketing department.
